This is a banana shrub that the nursery told me would never live through the winter here in east Texas. Well it's around four years old and taller than I am and it is thriving. I have it in a protected area so I think that helps. When the blooms open in the spring it smells like the banana popsicles( back in the day) we used to have. I can't remember what they were called...if anyone remembers please leave a comment and let me know.

The cherubs are part of a fountain my daughter-in-law gave me for my b-day a couple of years ago...the fountain doesn't work anymore so I usually plant an ivy in it for the summer.
